Developer Tools & APIs

Developer Tools & APIs on AI Demos focuses on structured, agent-ready building blocks that turn messy inputs into usable data. Tools like Firecrawl for web scraping and data extraction, LlamaParse and Airparser for resume parsing and schema extraction, and AskYourDatabase for natural-language SQL queries show how teams can move from raw documents and web pages to clean outputs fast. If you’re shipping AI workflows, support bots, or data pipelines, this category helps you compare APIs by real behavior—not hype—so you can plug the right tool into production with confidence.

Best forWeb pages into clean markdown or structured data
SSkyvernTested June 2026

Highest structural quality across the three live tests, especially on noisy and JS-heavy pages, with slower runs and some recording-sync fragility.

EExtend AIUpdated June 2026

Most consistent across all document types; production-ready default choice.

Best forHigh-volume resume extraction for HR automation
AAffindaTested April 2026

Affinda is a professional-grade resume-parsing API with 100+ configurable fields, skill-taxonomy metadata via EMSI IDs, language-proficiency extraction, and both a web UI and a REST API. It is built for HR-tech platforms, ATS vendors, and recruitment-automation pipelines that need structured JSON at scale.

Best forSchema-defined resume JSON output
EExtracta.aiTested July 2026

Excellent when you know exactly which fields you want, but it silently drops anything outside the schema and can map the wrong data to a field name.

What we learned testing this category

Structural quality mattered most when pages were noisy or JavaScript-heavy. Skyvern won the web-scraping tests by producing the best structure across a cluttered recipe blog, a JS-heavy Nike product page, and a protected Glassdoor jobs page. The tradeoff was slower runs and some recording-sync fragility.

For PDF-to-markdown, consistency across document types was the decisive trait. Extend AI was the most consistent across a hybrid annual report, a table-heavy financial report, and an image-only scanned research paper. That made it the production-ready default choice in the test set.

Resume parsing splits into two different winning shapes: broad configurable extraction and schema-first JSON mapping. Affinda was presented as a professional-grade parser with 100+ configurable fields, EMSI skill metadata, and both UI and REST access, which points to a broad platform use case. Extracta.ai won the structured-JSON category by being strong when the field schema is known up front, but it could silently drop out-of-schema data or map values to the wrong field.

Resume parsers have to survive layout variation, not just clean PDFs. The resume tests were built around clean single-column resumes, multi-column sidebar resumes, messy real-world resumes, and in one ranking OCR-only inputs as well. That means multi-layout robustness and consistent JSON output were central evaluation criteria, not edge cases.

Landing AI
Tool

Landing AI

A hosted PDF-to-markdown API that extracts tables, charts, signatures, and scanned text well, but flattens some heading hierarchy.

Hireability
Tool

Hireability

Resume parsing API for structured JSON extraction on standard PDFs, with strong Indian contact support but fragile multi-column handling.

Best AI Resume Parsing APIs for Structured JSON Output

If you need a resume parsing API that turns PDF and DOCX resumes into clean, machine-readable JSON, the hard part is not just extracting names and emails. The real test is whether the parser keeps work history, education, skills, certifications, and layout-dependent fields accurate across clean, multi-column, messy, and OCR-only resumes without manual field mapping.

CVParserPro
Tool

CVParserPro

Fast resume parsing with a readable candidate profile, but experience totals and education dates need manual verification.

Skyvern logo
Tool

Skyvern

Visually navigates messy and JS-heavy pages to extract clean structured outputs, but it runs slower than text-first scrapers.

Firecrawl flame logo.
Tool

Firecrawl

Reliable on JavaScript-heavy and bot-protected pages, but its markdown output usually needs a cleanup step.

Jina AI logo
Tool

Jina AI Reader

Turns public URLs into LLM-ready text, with the strongest tested results on static pages and weaker results on JS-heavy or protected sites.

Spider logo icon
Tool

Spider

Fast static-page scraping, but weak cleanup and poor reliability on dynamic or protected sites.

Query Live Databases Using Plain English with AI

This use case shows how business users can query a live database using plain English instead of writing SQL. We tested five AI database tools on the same ecommerce database and found AskYourDatabase to be the best practical workflow because it showed generated SQL, returned readable business answers, handled follow-ups well, and surfaced operational risks like pending-but-paid orders. The page also covers real outputs, limitations, and when users should still review the SQL before acting on results.

Ranking

Best AI Tools to Scrape Web Pages Into Clean Markdown or Structured Data

We tested four AI web-scraping tools on three live targets—a cluttered recipe blog, a JS-heavy Nike product page, and a protected Glassdoor jobs page—to see which ones return usable Markdown or structured data with zero manual selectors.

Ranking

Best AI APIs to Convert Complex PDFs to Clean Markdown

We tested hosted PDF-to-markdown APIs on the same three hard documents: a long hybrid annual report, a table-heavy financial report, and an image-only scanned research paper. The goal was usable markdown with OCR, tables, charts, and reading order preserved well enough for downstream RAG, search, and reuse.

Tool

Upstage AI

Solid on native financial tables, but unreliable for multi-column and scanned-document structure in markdown conversion.

Nutrient logo
Tool

Nutrient.io

A developer-first PDF-to-markdown API that handles straightforward OCR and hierarchy well, but loses fidelity on complex tables, charts, and handwritten visual content.

Extend AI logo mark.
Tool

Extend AI

A capable PDF-to-markdown API for mixed and scanned documents that keeps structure and most visuals, but stumbles on the hardest table headers.

Mistral AI logo
Tool

Mistral AI

A strong hosted PDF-to-markdown API for mixed and scanned documents, with solid OCR, table recovery, and asset export but uneven structural fidelity.

Best AI Tools for Parsing Resumes via API (2026)

This ranking evaluates AI resume parsing APIs based on their ability to convert resume PDFs into structured, machine-readable data. Using the same three resume inputs across all tools—a clean single-column resume, a multi-column sidebar resume, and a messy real-world resume—we tested extraction accuracy, layout handling, JSON consistency, and automation readiness. The analysis highlights which APIs are best suited for ATS platforms, recruitment software, HR-tech products, and large-scale hiring workflows.
